Privacy Policy

iHatePDF is designed to collect only what is needed to provide the App. Your documents are not sold and are not used for advertising or third-party profiling.

Effective date: September 12, 2026

Overview

1.1
iHatePDF (“the App”) is a PDF reader and document toolkit for iPhone. This policy explains what information the App handles, why it is used, and how you can request access or deletion.

Data We Collect

2.1
Documents you import. Files you open, scan, convert, or edit (PDFs, Office documents, images, and related library metadata such as names, dates, bookmarks, and folders). These stay on your device unless you choose a feature that requires a network service.
2.2
Device permissions. If you allow access, the App may use your camera (scan), photo library (image import), and Files / folder access (library sync). iOS manages these permissions; you can revoke them anytime in iPhone Settings.
2.3
Subscription information. Apple processes App Store payments. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases, restore subscriptions, and keep Pro access up to date. RevenueCat processes purchase history and transaction information, subscription status, and an automatically generated app user identifier. We use this information for subscription functionality and subscription analytics. We do not provide your documents to RevenueCat. Neither the App nor RevenueCat receives your payment card details from Apple.
2.4
Diagnostics and usage. When analytics keys are configured in a release build, the App may send crash reports and limited product events (for example feature use) via Apple / Google Firebase and AppMetrica to help fix bugs and improve the App. These events are not used for advertising.
2.5
The App does not require an account. It does not request contacts, microphone, or precise location for core functionality.

How We Use Your Data

3.1
Your data is used to read, organize, edit, convert, and protect documents on your iPhone; to verify Pro subscription status; to run optional cloud conversion when you request PDF to Word; and to respond to support or privacy requests.
3.2
Your documents and personal data are not sold and are not used for advertising or third-party profiling.

Data Storage

4.1
On-device. Core reading, scanning, OCR, markup, page tools, and most conversions process files locally on your iPhone. Library files and settings remain on your device (and in folders you authorize).
4.2
Cloud conversion (PDF to Word only). When you choose PDF to Word, the selected PDF is uploaded to CloudConvert to create a Word file. The result is saved back to your device. Do not use this feature for documents you are not allowed to transmit.

Third-Party Services

5.1
Apple Inc. — App Store distribution and in-app purchases. Apple’s privacy policy applies to payment and Apple ID data.
5.2
CloudConvert — used only when you run PDF to Word. The chosen PDF is transmitted for conversion. CloudConvert’s privacy policy applies to that processing.
5.3
Firebase (Google) — optional crash and analytics when configured in a release build.
5.4
AppMetrica (Yandex) — optional product analytics and crash reporting when configured in a release build.
5.5
No advertising SDKs are included for third-party ad profiling. Analytics services are used to improve the App, not to sell your documents.
5.6
RevenueCat — subscription purchase validation, restoration, Pro access management, and subscription analytics. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy for information about its data handling.

Data Retention

6.1
Documents remain on your device until you delete them. Items moved to Recycle Bin are kept for a limited period (currently 30 days) before permanent removal.
6.2
Temporary files created for conversion or export are discarded when processing finishes. CloudConvert may retain upload artifacts only as needed to complete the job under their policies.
6.3
Diagnostic event data, when collected, is retained only as long as needed for product improvement and security, subject to each provider’s retention settings.
6.4
Subscription records are processed by Apple and RevenueCat to validate and restore purchases, manage access, and meet applicable obligations. Deleting the App does not cancel an App Store subscription or automatically delete records held by these providers. Contact us for help with subscription-data requests.

Your Rights

7.1
Access & control. You can browse, export, and delete documents directly in the App.
7.2
Permissions. Revoke camera, photos, or Files access in iPhone Settings → iHatePDF.
7.3
Subscriptions. Manage or cancel Pro in iPhone Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.
7.4
Requests. For privacy questions or deletion help beyond on-device controls, contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.

Children

8.1
iHatePDF is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

EU/EEA Users

9.1
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the following additional terms apply.
9.2
Legal basis. We process data on the basis of performance of a contract (providing the App features you use) and legitimate interests such as security, crash diagnosis, and product improvement, where those interests are not overridden by your rights. Optional cloud conversion is performed at your request.
9.3
Transfers. Local processing stays on your device. When you use PDF to Word, CloudConvert may process the file outside your country. Analytics providers may process diagnostic data in regions they operate. RevenueCat may process subscription data outside your country. Transfers rely on appropriate safeguards where required (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).
9.4
Additional rights. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests, restrict processing in certain cases, and lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

Changes

10.1
This policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you.
